01Getting started
Download from the App Store, Sign up, use your email and a password. No Google or Apple sign-in by choice. A 6-digit code goes to your inbox. Type it in. Done.
Turn it on from Settings on first launch. Backgrounded longer than 60 seconds, Face ID is required to re-open. Under 60 seconds you go straight back in. Tight enough for a phone left on a majlis table. Loose enough for the times a day you flick to WhatsApp mid-upload. If Face ID fails, it falls back to your device passcode.
Family tab, Invite, pick the relationship, type their email, Send. Or Share via WhatsApp, the invite link goes to whichever contact you pick. Useful for a parent in Kochi who has never opened a marketing email in his life.
02Scanning documents
Every ICAO passport has two rows of monospaced characters at the bottom of the bio page. LegacySave parses that block deterministically. Document number, name, nationality, expiry come straight from the code. No language model guesses those fields, because language models hallucinate dates and we watched them do it. Issue date is not in the MRZ standard, so we recover it from the printed text where possible and ask you to confirm.
The 15-digit line is what the scanner locks onto. Card flat on a matte surface, fill the frame, number line horizontal, turn away from any overhead light casting a glare band. If the card is scratched or faded, tap Enter manually and type the 784-YYYY-XXXXXXX-X yourself. Saving the correct number once beats seven blurry retakes.
Choose two pages when the type picker asks. Bio page first (photo and MRZ). Then the address page from the back (address, spouse, parents). Both are stored under the same document and open together in the viewer.
The amber banner means extraction confidence came in too low. Blurred edge, dim room, or an angle steep enough to distort the text. Tap Retake in better light. Or Enter manually. Wrong data is worse than no data. You set reminders against these values.
03Expiry reminders
90 days before expiry. 30 days. 7 days. English emails for V1, sent daily at UAE morning time. If a threshold has already passed at upload, only the remaining reminders fire.
The email lands with the responsible member set on the document. If nobody is set, the uploader. Anyone the document is shared with also gets a copy, deduped so nobody sees the same email five times. Common setup: your father in Bengaluru owns his passport, you in Dubai are responsible. Reminder in your inbox, not his.
Open the document, Edit, tap the expiry field, pick a new date, Save. The 90/30/7 schedule recalculates. Any threshold already in the past is skipped.
Yes, on newer types (Tenancy Contract, Will, Mulkiya, Labor Contract, Trade Licence, Power of Attorney). Open the document, Add a field, name it (Rent Due, Ejari Expiry), set type to Date, flip on Remind me. Same 90/30/7 cadence as a passport expiry. Anything with a clock on it that a government did not print.
04Family sharing
Family tab, Invite, one at a time. Elderly parents who do not check email much: Share via WhatsApp. For a child under 13, add them as a member you manage from your account. Hand control over later.
Only what you share. Uploading does not share. On the document, tap Share, pick the members who should see it. Per-document by design, so a sensitive record like a will stays with the people you named.
Open the member's profile, tap Remove. Access to shared documents ends immediately. Documents they uploaded on their own account stay there. Nothing in your vault is touched.
You can also edit display name, relationship, photo and date of birth. V1 roles: one owner (you), everyone else is a member. Admin and View-only sit on the near roadmap. The responsible-member field on each document already delegates the bit that matters.
05Security and privacy
Every file is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it is written to Cloudflare R2. Unencrypted bytes live in server memory only for the request. We do not sell your data. We do not train models on it. OCR runs on servers we rent in a Hostinger data centre in Europe. No document image is sent to OpenAI, Google Vision, or any third-party AI. Full detail in the privacy policy.
Cloudflare R2, EU-West region. Metadata (account, document titles, expiry dates) lives in a managed Postgres database. Backups follow the same encryption model. Keys held server-side. No ad network or analytics vendor has access.
Settings, Delete account, confirm. Account, family group (if you were the last member), documents, every R2 object, the reminder schedule. Gone. Final. If you want copies, export or screenshot before you tap Confirm.
06Contact a human
Email. iPhone model, iOS version, description of what you tried. Scan issue: name the document type and issuing country. Login issue: do not send your password. Ever.
Reply within 48 hours (Sunday through Thursday, UAE time). Security concerns (lost device, a sign-in you did not make) get same-day handling where I can.
